AC/DC Back in Black

There are lots of good AC/DC records, including most of the Bon Scott output. But no album is bigger and badder than 1980′s Back in Black. Crank up your stereo, drop the needle on side one track one, listen to a couple crackles and then when the open riff kicks in: “baaah … baa-na-na-na … baa-na-na-na” … you’ll know immediately what’s so great about a good hard rocking tune on vinyl!

I was in college when this record came out and played it to death. It’s one of those super-short perfect rock albums. Okay, DSOTM is so popular and well-known, it’s almost a cliche. But it’s popularity is no fluke. It’s a perfect album. And it’s all the better on vinyl. No record collection is close to complete without it!
Yo La Tengo has been a critics’ favorites for years and years and years now. They’ve got tons and tons of great records, but none as accessible and well-knows as their 1997 masterpiece “I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One”. In 2009 it was re-released as a double LP 180 gram HQ LP. My personal favourite tracks are “Autumn Sweater” and “Stockholm Syndrome”, but the whole record is just spectacular. This is a record embraces by scores of music fans and critics; marketed a little better this album could have been a multi-platinum hit with an even wider audience.
